Tests and procedures
Having the test and discussing the result in the same place makes things easier — and knowing what is about to happen takes away much of the apprehension. Clínica Rhinus carries out hearing, balance, nasal and throat testing on its own premises, in the Renascença district of São Luís, Brazil. Below we explain, in plain language, what each test is for, how it is done, how long it takes and what to bring on the day. Hearing and balance tests are handled by the speech-language pathologists on our team, and the results are interpreted during the consultation with the ENT specialist.

High-frequency audiometry
Tests high-pitched sounds beyond standard audiometry and detects early loss.

Records the electrical response of the cochlea; supports investigation of hydrops.

- Bring the medical request. Every test and procedure requires one, under insurance and self-pay alike.
- Check the preparation on the page for your test. Some require stopping medication or avoiding noise beforehand.
- Bring previous results. Comparison with what already exists changes how a result is read.
- Confirm insurance coverage with our team. Rules vary by plan and by procedure, and some tests are self-pay only.
