Editorial policy

This page explains how the health content published on the Clínica Rhinus site is produced, reviewed and updated. It exists so that anyone — patient, colleague or search engine — can see where what is written here comes from.

Who writes and who signs

Every clinical text on this site begins with the team at Clínica Rhinus and goes through medical review before publication. Whoever reviewed it signs at the end of the page, with name and medical registration number, next to the date of that reading. You know who stands behind what you are reading, and since when.

The Portuguese content was approved on 12 September 2026 and the English pages on 13 September 2026.

About this English version

The English pages are a translation of the Portuguese content, reviewed for medical terminology and clinical accuracy against the approved source. Clinical responsibility rests with the physician named on each page.

Where a term differs between British and American usage, we have used the form most likely to be understood by an international reader. Registration numbers, addresses and telephone numbers are identical across both languages.

How topics are chosen

Topics come from the consulting room. We write about the questions that come up most often and about situations where the information available tends to confuse more than it helps. We do not choose subjects by search volume alone.

Sources

We use as reference the guidelines and materials of medical societies, particularly the Brazilian Association of Otorhinolaryngology and Cervico-Facial Surgery (ABORL-CCF) and the Brazilian Society of Otology, alongside peer-reviewed scientific literature. Sources consulted are listed at the end of clinical pages, with links.

Updating

Clinical pages are reviewed periodically and whenever there is a relevant change in practice. The date shown is that of the last substantive review, not of a formatting change.

What we do not publish

We follow Resolution 2,336/2023 of the Brazilian Federal Council of Medicine on medical advertising. You will therefore not find on this site:

• Prices, fee schedules, promotions or payment terms.
• Promises or guarantees of outcome, improvement or cure.
• Before-and-after images of procedures.
• Patient testimonials about treatment outcomes.
• Self-promotional expressions such as "the best", "leading", "pioneering" or "exclusive".
• Images of identifiable patients without consent.

The review excerpts published on the reviews page deal exclusively with the experience of care, not with clinical outcomes.

Content does not replace a consultation

Nothing published here constitutes individual medical advice. The aim is to help you understand when to seek assessment and what to expect from it. Diagnosis and management depend on each person's history, physical examination and test results.
